Caroline Wood was born in Yorkshire England and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1963 when she was ten years old. After living in Southern California for ten years, she moved to the Pacific Northwest. In this rural environment, her love of books evolved into a bookshop, and her interest in writing took root. She has two grown children and lives with her husband, Dean, in their cabin in the woods with their two cats, two chickens, and their dog, Pippi.
Caroline made Cecily’s lists of “My Flowers and Herbs” and “Enemies of the Garden.” She also drew Louise’s garden layout and Cecily’s map of the route the letters travel between Washington State and Yorkshire, England. Caroline’s wonderful husband, Dean, drew the flower sketches, the sow bug and beetle, and Quentin’s sketch of Cecily’s garden swing.
